I frequent the Southeast Grind almost nightly to complete homework. I love the atmosphere, the TIGER SPICE CHAI & the people!
I'm sorry your muffin sucked! We offer 100% satisfaction guarantee! You never have to pay for something that's not top quality!
I went there last night and got a muffin and coffee. This muffin was so old and hard. At least the girl at the counter was nice

Southeast Grind is Awesome!
I've been meaning to comment here for some time now that Southeast Grind is awesome! If you've never been here in a long time and/or haven't been here before at all (it's a far cry from the coffee place that used to inhabit the same space years ago), you don't know what you're missing! The food here seems more like a gourmet restaurant than a coffee shop, and without the price, which is really nice. They also have my favorite chocolate croissants, too.
When it's 10 PM, and I'm restless and can't sleep, this is definitely the best place to go! Also nice and easy bus access to here 7 days a week, especially since TriMet runs the first bus into town currently at something like 4:30 AM, and isn't canceling the 1:30 AM #9 bus.
And no, I'm not just saying this because I'm inside and typing this comment while connected to their wifi!

24 hour refuge
I moved here from a college town and I'm a night owl who's used to late night activities like drinking copious amounts of java at a time when I should be sleeping. It's been hell trying to find places open later than 9 p.m. here. (I thought I moved to Portland and not a retirement community in Ft. Lauderdale!) Thank you for the great coffee, a comfortable atmosphere, a knowledgeable and friendly staff, and for being open later than sundown.
Decor
I've been coming here for about 7 years & love that it's available for what creative people need - late night space, coffee, energy, and good service!
I'm grateful the new crew kept the place dedicated to folks that have loved it. I'm having trouble swallowing the new look though. It's so stark and stale in there now... I like the warmth of the older style. The woodsy atmosphere had the real green, organic, Portlander feel. The retro-metro feels more "Northwest" to me than "Southeast" - can we have some fabric or wood decor anywhere to warm it up?
I'm glad you guys went back to 24 hours b/c I bring people there alot in the middle of the night - we're kinda noctournal like that when we're working on a big project or celebrating a movie release or t.v. show being filmed.
Tnx for the love guys!

Gotta have coffee!
I'm so very, very tired, and I really need a cup of GOOD coffee! Fortunately, my ride dropped me off in front of Southeast Grind. Great coffee and even a computer I can use (if I can keep my eyelids open long enough). I will be back, a great local coffee shop!
I love this place.
I love this place.
great place for meetings!
I've had a couple small meetings here and its really a great, relaxed spot to get things done. Free wi-fi and plenty of electrical outlets make it a great place to get some work done. I'm so glad you're in the neighborhood : )
